Sucralose disrupts DNA in in vitro cell cultures, and is linked to leaky gut syndrome, according to researchers publishing in a toxicology journal. Authors called on consumers to stop eating sucralose (sold as the sweetener Splenda, and widely used in processed foods and beverages) and for the government to regulate it more. FDA considers sucralose safe. Read at NC State News
Less than 6% of people eligible undergo screening for lung cancer with CT scans, compared to over 60% for breast and colorectal cancer. Some states’ screening rates are 1%. Most health systems haven’t done the operations work (including paying for people and technology) to build robust screening programs, and physicians haven’t been pushing hard for it either.
